Head of Finance
Job description

  • Ensuring accurate and timely billing to maintain financial stability
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes for Greece in order to meet Group’s deadlines and expectations
  • Manage collections, assuring all accounts receivable is collected within deadlines, and that exceptions are performed as per company’s policy
  • Make sure accounts payable team works efficiently, booking all invoices accurately and paying as per defined payment terms
  • Assure all Tax obligations are complied, within deadlines
  • Assure Finance Reporting and all ad hoc deliverables are made available to the Group, in time, and with flawless data quality
  • Lead all the transactional operation ensuring that all processes are implemented and working
  • Liaison with external auditors, lawyers, and any needed entities
  • Manage Treasury and drive cost saving initiatives
  • Assure company’s secretarial matters are adequately managed
  • Assist in the integration of acquisitions and lead the implementation of a new system (JD Edwards / Oracle)
  • Oversee the monthly creation of management accounts, ensuring they are precise, cohesive, and promptly delivered to the Group for all entities within the country and ensure adherence to international accounting standards
  • Take ownership of financial data, grasp performance and business patterns. Prepare the reporting pack and respective explanations for key variances to budget, forecast, and prior year, and provide useful insight to management and senior leadership
  • Communicate targets and results to schools Heads and functional managers, maintain a close relationship with them and exchange relevant information
  • Support balance sheet reviews


Candidate’s Profile
  • Proven work experience as a Head of Finance, Director of Finance, or similar role or qualified accountant with 10 years qualified experience
  • In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping
  • Strong technical knowledge, including IFRS and Greek GAAP accounting
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills with proven experience of working with large Excel based financial models
  • Working knowledge of Cognos Controller / TM1 or similar consolidation system is preferred
  • Bachelor’s in accounting, finance or relevant field and MSc/MBA or relevant certification (e.g. CFA/CPA)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English
  • International working experience within at least another European country will be considered a strong asset
  • Strong end-to-end process management skills with strength of character and gravitas to enforce disciplines and excellence whilst maintaining an adaptable overall approach
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with the capacity to multi-task over several on-going projects and delegate effectively
  • Hard working, desire to be a key player in a fast-paced environment
